Eurotank BAF2 Wastewater Treatment System
The Eurotank BAF2 wastewater treatment system provides reliable secondary treatment for domestic and commercial wastewater. Its strong reinforced-concrete tank arrives fully assembled and offers a straightforward installation solution for new houses, replacement systems and larger developments.
The Eurotank BAF2 uses a three-stage biological aeration filtration process with moving-bed treatment media. In addition, it has certification under EN 12566-3, with performance corresponding to Irish S.R. 66 requirements.
How does the Eurotank BAF2 work?
The treatment process takes place across three chambers:
- Primary settlement chamber: Raw wastewater enters the first chamber, where heavier solids settle and lighter material remains at the surface.
- Biological reactor: Wastewater then enters the aerated treatment chamber. The blower supplies air to the diffusers, while the moving media provides a large surface area for beneficial microorganisms.
- Final clarifier: Remaining solids settle in the final chamber. The system returns this material to the primary chamber, while treated effluent leaves through a gravity or pumped outlet.
This simple process does not require pumps or complicated mechanical components inside the treatment tank.

Independently tested performance
During certification testing, the Eurotank BAF2 achieved final effluent results of:
- BOD₅: 11mg/l
- Suspended solids: 12mg/l
- Ammonium nitrogen: 6.2mg/l
These figures represent results achieved under controlled testing. However, actual performance depends on correct system sizing, installation, loading, commissioning and maintenance.
Available system sizes
The Eurotank BAF2 range starts with the P6 domestic system and extends to larger commercial configurations. Available sizes include systems designed for approximately 6, 12, 25 and 50 population equivalent, with larger installations available for projects of up to 300 PE.
The wastewater designer must select the appropriate model based on the proposed population, daily hydraulic load and type of development.
Gravity or pumped outlet
A gravity outlet may suit sites where the treated effluent can flow naturally to the approved percolation area. Alternatively, a pumped outlet can transfer effluent to a low-pressure pipe network, raised percolation area, sand polishing filter or soil polishing filter.
The final discharge arrangement must follow the site-characterisation report, planning permission and approved wastewater design.
Installation and maintenance
Percolation Supplies offers supply-and-fit packages for the Eurotank BAF2, including delivery, installation and commissioning. We can also supply associated percolation pipework, low-pressure networks and polishing-filter components.
A qualified electrician must connect the blower, control panel, pump and alarm where applicable. Furthermore, surface water, roof water and land drainage must not enter the treatment system.
Regular maintenance should include:
- Checking and servicing the air blower
- Testing the alarm
- Inspecting the air diffusers
- Checking the treatment media
- Inspecting the outlet or pump
- Desludging when required
- Inspecting the final percolation area
