The HydroClear 9 (HC9) is an advanced sewage treatment plant designed to efficiently treat wastewater from bathrooms, toilets, laundry, and kitchens for up to 9 people. This makes it an ideal solution for small to medium-sized domestic properties that need an efficient solution for wastewater management.

Harlequin HydroClear P9
The Harlequin HydroClear P9 provides an economical and reliable wastewater treatment solution for homes and small commercial properties without mains drainage. Designed to serve between seven and nine people, it generally suits a house with up to seven bedrooms when specified in accordance with the EPA Code of Practice 2021, subject to site assessment and planning requirements.
The integrated outlet pump transfers treated effluent to an approved polishing filter, percolation area or other designed discharge point. This makes the system suitable for sites without sufficient gravity fall.
Quiet and Economical Operation
A high-performance 76W diaphragm blower supplies air to the treatment process while keeping operating noise exceptionally low. Harlequin houses the blower above ground in a weatherproof enclosure, allowing easy access for servicing and maintenance.
Harlequin HydroClear P9 MBBR Technology
Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor technology continuously circulates and cleans the treatment media. This movement helps prevent the channelling and blockages that can affect fixed-film systems.
Under test conditions, the HydroClear achieved 97.5% BOD5 reduction, 97% suspended-solids reduction and 95% ammonium reduction.
Low Maintenance Costs
The large 2,295-litre primary settlement chamber provides generous sludge-storage capacity. Harlequin specifies desludging intervals of up to 12 months, depending on the number of occupants and level of use.
Strong and Durable Construction
Harlequin moulds the tank in one piece from durable medium-density polyethylene. The system includes 110mm inlet and outlet connections, integrated lifting eyes and a secured, low-profile pedestrian-duty cover. The manufacturer certifies the system to EN 12566-3.
During a power failure, the primary chamber continues to settle solids. However, the air blower and outlet pump stop operating, so the system requires electricity for full biological treatment and pumped discharge.
