Poly-Air 4 Activated Carbon Vent Filter

The Poly-Air 4 activated carbon vent filter helps control unpleasant gases escaping from septic tanks, wastewater treatment systems, grease traps and sewage ventilation pipes. It fits directly onto standard 110mm (4-inch) vent pipework and contains replaceable activated-carbon pellets.

As gases pass through the filter, the carbon captures hydrogen sulphide and other odour-producing compounds. Therefore, the Poly-Air 4 can help prevent foul smells from drifting towards houses, patios, gardens and open windows.

The supplied filter contains approximately 1lb of activated-carbon pellets.

Typical applications

The Poly-Air 4 may suit ventilation pipes connected to:

The filter treats odours leaving the vent pipe. However, it does not repair a blocked drain, failed treatment system, damaged vent or overloaded septic tank.

If foul smells continue after installation, inspect the wastewater system and ventilation pipework for faults.

Installation guidance

First, remove the filter components from the packaging. Cut one corner of the carbon-pellet bag to create a pouring spout.

Next, pour the activated-carbon pellets into the housing. Shake the housing gently while filling it so the pellets settle evenly, but do not pack or compress them.

Place the retaining screen over the carbon chamber and secure it with the two supplied screws. Afterwards, fit the lid and turn it clockwise until it locks into position.

Finally, align the housing with the top of the 110mm vent pipe and press it firmly into place. Ensure that the vent pipe stands securely and keeps the filter upright.
